In Quarantine

In self-imposed or mandated quarantine

Time reels and re-reels set in replay mode,

Of cleaning, organizing again until I get lost

Midst countless possible efficiencies,

Reading and writing on line and between lines,

Sewing and music in this uncertain time,

Even the spring hesitates to open

The wintery door with rusty hinges.

Practice meditation letting the cage of my mind

Of chorus of chitter-chatter fly until it comes back home,

And the mindfulness smirks rattling the cage,

“Looking for a perfect square without corners?”

Interrupting the flow of flawless time in quarantine,

I elbow back the smart aleck,

“You are no sage!”

Now I am mindless.
