Winter Solstice

Amaryllis bloomed, welcoming the winter, Feeling the turning of the axis, expecting Longer days here, but shorter elsewhere. Time to clean the house for the guest, Sweeping, mopping, dusting, and wiping Windows not to erase the particles of the past But to see the path--longer days here Within the equation without robbing others. 

Thankful

Days are growing dark The tilted earth feels the slant. Long dark days here tell me Longer, brighter days elsewhere.
