Don’t die before we are dead,
Stay alive to witness
The history returning
Through the revolving door.
Meantime, invent, create, write
To safeguard dreams
Within and without
In this unsettled time.
Power grabbers scheme to steal
From unsuspected innocents,
To silver-line their pockets—
Thieves in broad daylight.
Learn to praise;
Respell the misspelled,
Trim the frayed edges of illusion,
Cast the net wide and far.
Learn to be still,
And remember that we are neither fools
Nor clowns for the circus–
Stay alive with joy.
Paint rainbows in unexpected places,
Look for kindness, and find it still
In a world flooded with forgetfulness,
Leave echoes of warmth behind.
