Dragon’s lair encroaching,

Breathing heavily, dragging daggers,

Stolen treasures in tow.

Keep showing up,

Even in this storm turned

To life-threatening hurricane.

Reasons to be hopeful:

Democracy in the rubble—

Seeds still yearn, roots reaching for light,

For a new turn.

Keep showing up,

Hope and song in heart—faint but true,

Shining light on the shadow.

Through rage,

Through wild winds,

The flickering flame

Cradles the ember,

Till wings unfurl,

Paint the sky in a familiar hue.
